On the 21st of June of 1969, and after a year of preparation under Fernando Villaamil's direction, then manager of Competition in FASA Renault, started the first R8 ST Cup, that during 9 years was the breeding ground for our best national pilots. The formula was very simple, cars with strictly standar mechanics, harder and shorter suspension springs, special deadening, bars and fire extinguisher. This combination, seemingly quiet, would give us lots of spectacular races, with continuous changes of position and emotion till the last meter.
